Marc McKenzie's strike just before half-time gave Cowdenbeath a 1-0 victory in a tight affair at East Fife.

The hosts looked comfortable against the league leaders but failed to test goalkeeper Thomas Flynn with their long-range efforts early on.

Greg Stewart then came close for Cowdenbeath but Michael Brown managed to parry away the striker's powerful shot.

McKenzie then scored the only goal, racing into the box and slotting past Brown to put Cowdenbeath ahead.

The Fifers pushed forward but still found opportunities at a premium, Steven Hislop dragging his shot wide from just outside the box.

And though Cowdenbeath rarely looked like adding a second, they saw out the game with ease to extend their unbeaten run to eight matches.
