Falkirk lost ground on league leaders Ross County after being held to a goalless draw against Hamilton.
Both sides squandered good chances to claim all three points in a match that was short of quality.
Kevin McBride went close for the visitors after 14 minutes with a volley that was well held by goalkeeper Michael McGovern.
The home side almost took the lead two minutes into first-half stoppage time through David Weatherston, but his powerful effort was charged down by Martin Canning.
Stewart Murdoch squandered the best chance of the match for the Bairns when he headed over the bar following Mark Millar's outswinging corner.
And Weatherston fired over four minutes from time to ensure the match ended goalless.
