Rudi Skacel says cup win was ‘the best way to say goodbye’ to Hearts

Rudi Skacel says his team’s 5-1 Scottish Cup final victory over Hibernian was ‘the best way to say goodbye’ to the Hearts fans.

The Czech Republic forward, who won the trophy back in 2006 during his first spell with the club, scored a double at Hampden against their city rivals.

The 32-year-old returned to Tynecastle last summer but says he’s almost certain to leave the Gorgie side for pastures new.

He said: "It's the best way to say goodbye with the cup in my hands - 99% it's my last game for Hearts.

"Never say never, but it probably was the last game for me."

"At this moment I don't have anything," he added.

"I want now to switch off for a couple of weeks and then decide what will be the best for me."

Already a fans’ favourite, Skacel hit 18 goals this term to finish as the club’s top goalscorer.

And he believes the margin of victory was merited on the day, adding: "It was great. We have the trophy, we won the big derby and we showed everybody there's only one team in Edinburgh. Fantastic.

"We were favourites. I think we deserved this win because we are a much better team and we showed that to everybody."
