John McGlynn wants to makes amends for 2005 derby defeat to Hibs

John McGlynn wants to make amends for losing Hearts’ undefeated league start to Hibs in 2005.

McGlynn was caretaker boss when Hearts visited Easter Road on a 12 game unbeaten run seven-years-ago, but goals from Guilleme Beuzelin and Garry O’Connor delivered a first defeat for their neighbours.

Edgaras Jankauskas, now assistant to boss McGlynn, was sent off in the tie and McGlynn admits it was not a good experience for him.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s derby at Hibs, the Hearts boss said: “That wasn’t the best day. We lost 2-0 and I’d like to make amends for that.

“I’m well aware of the derby games, be it at youth level, reserve team level or first team level I’ve been in many of them.

“This one’s the next one so it is the biggest one.”
