Andy Driver could be confirmed as a Houston Dynamo player today after Hearts announced he is to move to the USA.
The winger is in the States to finalise his move to the Texan team ahead of the start of the MLS season on March 2.
The Edinburgh club, where Driver has played all his career since making his debut in 2006, said on Tuesday that the 25-year-old would join Houston on an initial loan until the end of his contract in June, at which point the transfer would become permanent.
A spokesman for Hearts said: “The club wishes Andrew all the best as he continues his career with this fantastic opportunity to play in America.”
Driver himself told fans via the club’s official website that winning the Scottish Cup last May was his favourite memory of his seven years with the Tynecastle men.
He said: “I loved my time at Hearts and the club did a lot for me, giving me the best day of my life in the cup final last May.
"But the club is going in a new direction now, I need a fresh start and this move suits both parties.”
On Tuesday night Houston Dynamo traded Jamaican winger Je-Vaughn Watson to FC Dallas to open up a slot on their roster for an international player to join.
