Calum Elliot could be set for a move to Lithuania, as a number of clubs consider a swoop for the former Hearts striker.

STV understands a team in Lithuania’s top flight are close to offering the 24-year-old terms to move to Eastern Europe.

Elliot is available on a free transfer, having agreed his release from Tynecastle prior to the opening of the January transfer window.

Hearts have a long-standing relationship with Kaunas, which has seen a number of players move between both clubs in recent years. However, it is understood they are not the club pursuing Elliot.

Elliot has also rejected the chance to spend two weeks on trial with MLS club Houston Dynamo, who lost the 2011 play-off final to LA Galaxy.

The player’s agent, Tommaso Angelini, said: “There is a lot of interest in Calum, not just from Lithuania. There are clubs in the Scottish Premier League and England who have expressed an interest, as well as a team in Scandinavia.

“Any decision he makes will be for football reasons. He is keen to play regular football again.”

Elliot, 24, was released from his contract at Hearts at the start of the transfer window, having scored 16 goals in 124 appearances for the Edinburgh club.

His last competitive appearance came during a loan spell with Dundee, where he failed to find the net in six games.

The former Scotland Under-21 international has also had spells on loan at Motherwell and Livingston in his career, scoring two and 11 goals respectively.
