Hearts will continue talks with Rudi Skacel over a new contract on Monday.
The Czech midfielder comes to the end of his current deal this month and had been linked with a move away from Tynecastle.
Paulo Sergio is keen to see the player remain at the club and talks will continue over an offer, which would keep Skacel in Edinburgh until the summer.
Hearts have already said that they expect to complete a deal and Skacel has indicated a willingness to sign but wanted assurances about his place in the starting line-up.
While Sergio is making plans to ensure that one player remains at the club, some could depart Tynecastle before Tuesday’s deadline.
STV understands that David Obua and Suso Santana have been told that they are free to leave without any transfer fee being required.
Rangers have been linked with a possible move for David Templeton. Hearts are prepared to part with the winger but will be looking for a sum in the region of £500,000 before agreeing any transfer.
