Hearts will be without utility man Jamie Hamill for the Scottish Cup semi-final against Celtic.

The former Kilmarnock man could be missing for months after suffering a knee injury in training.

The 25-year-old, who has played at full-back and midfield for the Tynecastle club since joining up in the summer, has undergone a scan to assess the full extent of the injury.

Sources at the club said the former Scotland under-21 cap will learn the full extent of the injury over the next 24 hours, but manager Paulo Sergio is already planning to be without him for the Hampden clash on Sunday.

A spokesman for Heart of Midlothian said the players were training indoors when Hamill injured his knee.

The spokesman said: “It was clear he was in obvious pain. He was taken for a scan and we are concerned as to the full extent of the injury.

“We expect to know more over the next 24 hours once the results of the scan are disclosed.”
