Hibs face competition from two English clubs in the race to sign Slovakia defender Lubomir Michalik.
The 6ft 5in stopper is interesting Pat Fenlon after his contract at Carlisle United ran out.
The capital club are in the market for a centre half but they will have to persuade the 28-year-old former Bolton and Leeds man to choose Easter Road over League One in England.
Preston North End are also keen on the seven-time capped defender, while Carlisle have tabled a new contract offer to keep Michalik at Brunton Park.
A source close to the player said a fresh challenge in Scotland may appeal though, and added: “Lubo may think he’s spent enough time in League One.
“The thought of playing in Edinburgh derbies and going to big stadiums in Glasgow would be good for him.”
