Hibernian youngster Sam Stanton said it was “incredible” to net a goal on his first start for the club he grew up supporting.
The 18-year-old midfielder took his place in the team against a Zeeland Select on Hibs’ pre-season tour and bagged a goal in a 4-0 win for Pat Fenlon’s side.
Speaking to the Daily Record after the game, Stanton said he thought he had played well.
He said: “It was my first start for the senior team and pulling on that Hibs jersey is what you dream about. To get a goal was incredible and I thought we played really well.
“I’m a Hibs fan. I joined from Hutchie Vale when I was 12 and have been here ever since. Hopefully this game can be the start of more to come.”
Hibs fielded Leigh Griffiths, who has signed up for a new six month loan deal at Easter Road, in the match in the Netherlands.
Stanton’s opener was added to with a double from Danny Handling and one by Ross Caldwell.
