Watch video highlights from the second weekend of the SPL season

While Celtic were in friendly action in America, the rest of the SPL season got down to domestic business in the second weekend of the new season.

Billed as Sell Out Saturday, a crowd of over 14,000 turned out at Pittodrie but were left without any goals to cheer.

That wasn’t a problem at Easter Road where it finished 1-1 in the first Edinburgh derby of the campaign.

Dundee hosted their first SPL match for seven years while Motherwell bounced back from their Champions League qualifying defeat in Athens to claim a point against St Johnstone.

Inverness CT and Kilmarnock shared the points in the Highlands with referees kept very busy across the league this weekend.

Watch highlights of the weekend's action:

Aberdeen 0-0 Ross County

Aberdeen drew a blank for the second weekend in a row as Ross County extended their unbeaten league run to 36 matches.

The Dons enjoyed the better of the chances with Gavin Rae guilty of heading wide in the best opening, but the Staggies defended resolutely to make it 36 league games without defeat.

A very healthy crowd of 14,010 were in attendance to witness the first ever competitive match between the sides.

Dundee 0-2 St Mirren

Goals from Kenny McLean and Sam Parkin gave St Mirren victory over Clydesdale Bank Premier League new boys Dundee at Dens Park.

McLean's 35-yard pile driver six minutes from the interval was fit on its own to win any game.

However, Parkin clinched the points in the 62nd minute when he controlled a Dougie Imrie cross before guiding the ball past Dees' veteran keeper Rab Douglas.

Hibernian 1-1 Hearts

Highlights will be available from midnight on Sunday

Leigh Griffiths gave Hibernian their first point of the season in the first Edinburgh derby of the season.

Andrew Driver opened the scoring after capitalising on debutant Alan Maybury’s mistake.

However Pat Fenlon’s men rallied and levelled matters on when Wotherspoon found Griffiths unmarked in the box.

Both sides pushed for a winner in the final 10 minutes without creating many chances.

Inverness CT 1-1 Kilmarnock

There always tends to be goals when these two sides meet and this match was no exception.

Score lines between the teams read 6-3, 4-3, 1-1 and 2-1 last time out and there was plenty to talk about in this encounter.

Substitute Danny Racchi saw his penalty saved by Ryan Esson after Andrew Shinnie had given the hosts the lead. Killie skipper Manuel Pascali equalised on the stroke of half-time to give the Ayrshire men a point.

The game ended on a sour note for the hosts with Owain Tudur Jones sent off for violent conduct after 79 minutes, putting a downer on a solid performance which included a penalty save from goalkeeper Ryan Esson.

Motherwell 1-1 St Johnstone

Red cards were also the order of the day at Fir Park as Motherwell and St Johnstone went head to head.

Murray Davidson headed Saints ahead in the 58th minute, moments after Darren Randolph had saved Dave Mackay's penalty when Hammell was penalised for Chris Millar going down.

The veteran defender was sent off to put the hosts up against it but Bob McHugh levelled in the 78th minute.

Referee Iain Brines soon evened up the teams when Rowan Vine was sent off on his first start for a second bookable foul on Shaun Hutchinson.
