Hibs goal hero Leigh Griffiths has a lost his race to be fit for the visit of Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
The Easter Road star has hit five goals and picked up the Player of the Month award for August so far this season but has failed to shake off an ankle knock picked up in last week’s 2-1 victory over Kilmarnock.
The on-loan Wolves man was given a chance to prove his fitness before Terry Butcher's men came to Easter Road on Saturday but Tweeted on Friday that he would not make the squad.
Griffiths wrote: "Gutted to say I'm out for tomorrow. Ankle still swollen with a bit of pain still there - should be away for next week."
Earlier, Hibs manager Pat Fenlon told STV: “Leigh’s a bit sore and we’ll have to see how he is.
“We don’t want to take a risk with him."
Hibs are riding high in the SPL table, going unbeaten since a 3-0 reverse away to Dundee United on the opening weekend of the season.
Fenlon though is content to use the campaign as one to stabilise the club after a poor outing in 2011/12.
He said: “It’s definitely refreshing to see us up at the top.
“We’re not getting carried away though. We set ourselves a target to not end up in the problems we did last year and that’s still our target, to progress the team.
“We want to build the team and make the team better as we go along so nothing’s changed from that point of view.”
