Arsenal kid Philip Roberts in talks over extending Inverness stay

Inverness Caledonian Thistle boss Terry Butcher is confident of retaining Arsenal loanee Philip Roberts until the end of the campaign.

The forward moved north in late August and has made an immediate impact at the Caledonian Stadium, playing four times and scoring his first goal in the 4-0 win over Dundee United on September 29.

"We are obviously looking to do that, and Arsenal are quite happy to do that," Butcher said of the player, who is currently contracted to remain with the SPL side until January. "So we will be speaking to Phil and see how he feels.

"He has settled in very well. He's a big threat and he's got a lot of pace. He's an Arsenal player, so he's very comfortable with the ball.

"He's got different hairstyles as well, which is quite nice. He's a character. But he's only 18 years of age too, like Conor Pepper.

"We've had great contributions from those two and obviously from the rest of the squad as well."

Inverness are unbeaten in their last five league and cup matches, winning three on the bounce going into Friday's game with Dundee.

"Every player we have put in to replace our injured or banned players has done very well," Butcher added. "Even the substitutes have been brilliant as well.

"It's a buzzing place, great atmosphere, great squad and great happiness here. We want that to continue."
