Aberdeen goalkeeper Jamie Langfield has been offered a new deal at the club less than a year after suffering a brain seizure.

Langfield made his Aberdeen return on Saturday in the 2-0 Clydesdale Bank Premier League win at Inverness, 11 months after his health scare.

The 32-year-old, who is out of contract this summer, suffered the problem at his home last May and his only competitive action prior to last weekend had been while on loan at Forfar.

Wales international Jason Brown had occupied the starting berth, including in the William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final loss to Hibernian, but was replaced for the Caley Thistle clash.

Manager Craig Brown told Red TV: "Jamie has been offered a new deal and a good contract, I think.

"He loves Aberdeen Football Club and I think his concern was that he was not going to be in contention for the number one goalkeeping spot but here we are - he plays, we have a clean sheet and he plays exceptionally well so he is right in contention for being number one.

"I want to emphasise (Jason) Brown wasn't dropped because of the semi-final and he knew even had he kept a clean sheet in the semi-final Jamie Langfield would be playing.

"It gives us great food for thought and also gives competition for the number one spot which every club would be pleased about."

Meanwhile, the Dons boss fears a knee injury picked up on Saturday may have ended striker Rory Fallon's season.

The former Scotland manager said: "We think the season could be over for Rory Fallon.

"Rory picked up a knee injury. It is too early to say at this stage how bad the injury is, he will need to have a scan."
