Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager Terry Butcher has spoken of his desire to see Jonny Hayes agree a contract extension with the club.
Hayes has been a stand-out performer for Inverness but will play the last game under his current contract against Hibernian.
The 24-year-old will then be free to sign for any other club and Aberdeen have already expressed an interest.
Butcher believes the player can go on to play at the top level and urged Hayes to give himself the best chance of a bigger move by playing another season at the Caledonian Stadium.
“We have spoken to Jonny and are speaking to his agent,” the manager said.
“I want him to have another season with us.
“I’ve told him we want him to be here because it will give him a good base.”
Hayes moved to Inverness from Leicester in 2009 and has since made over 80 appearances for the club, scoring 22 goals.
