Jorge Galan is close to ending his loan spell with Kilmarnock in favour of another temporary spell back in his native Spain, STV understands.
The forward, who moved to Rugby Park on loan from Osasuna in the summer, has made just five appearances for Kenny Shiels’ side, all as a substitute.
Segunda Division B side Real Union are poised to take Galan to the Basque Country until the end of the season, with their sporting director confirming talks to sign the player are “advanced”.
The 22-year-old, who is a former Spain Under-20 international, hasn’t featured for Kenny Shiels’ side since the 5-0 Scottish Communities League Cup win over Queen of the South on September 20.
Capped once at Under-20 level for Spain, Galan scored 16 times in 34 games for Osasuna's B team in 2008/09 and spent last season on loan at Huesca in Spain's second tier, failing to score in 12 appearances.
His sole international appearance came in a friendly against Egypt in April 2009, in which he lined up alongside young Barcelona defender Andreu Fontas, Valencia midfielder Dani Parejo and former Rangers youngster Aaron Niguez in a 2-0 defeat in Cairo.
