Ben Gordon hopes that he can repeat the successes of his last loan spell at Kilmarnock when he makes his second debut at Rugby Park.

The 20-year-old Chelsea left-back was recruited by Mixu Paatelainen in 2010/11, and caught the eye with a series of impressive performances.

He returned to Rugby Park earlier this month and is hoping to repeat the form of 18 months ago when he lines up under Kenny Shiels.

Gordon, who featured against Aberdeen last weekend, said: "It's good to be back and it's good to see some old faces.

"Kenny had a big input last year (as assistant manager) and the sort of things Mixu was doing Kenny has carried them on.

"I did quite well last time. I just want to get back to playing games and hopefully I can hit the heights I did last time as well."

While Gordon is firmly focused on the match with Dunfermline on Saturday, he also has one eye on the League Cup semi-final with Ayr United.

"When I first spoke to Kenny about coming back he told me we had a great chance to get to the final," Gordon added.

"We're hoping for a good performance tomorrow and to take it forward into the Ayr game.

"Everyone knows they (Dunfermline) are not on a good run, but we can't think about next weekend yet.

"We've got to make sure we take it one game at a time and get the three points and take it into the Ayr game."

Kilmarnock manager Kenny Shiels dismissed the idea that the Hampden fixture could act as a distraction for his side.

He said: "The most important game of your life is always your next game. We don't deviate from that."

The Northern Irishman was also keen to point out that while Dunfermline have struggled in recent months, they have a better away record than Kilmarnock have this season.

He concluded: "Dunfermline's away form is better than ours, so we have to be very careful."
