Kilmarnock manager Kenny Shiels has refused to comment on the strength of forthcoming opponents Dunfermline, fearing anything he says could be misinterpreted.

In recent weeks, the Northern Irishman has been embroiled in a verbal spat with Ayr counterpart Brian Reid and on Saturday he accused Hibernian goalkeeper Graham Stack of time wasting.

The Ayrshire side have scored seven goals on their travels in the league - the joint lowest total along with Hearts - while Dunfermline are yet to win an SPL match at East End Park this term.

Shiels though was in no mood to discuss whether he felt his team would ensure the Pars’ home record continued, saying he no longer wished to comment on other clubs.

“I've spoken about the opposition in the last two games,” Shiels told STV.

“I'm just starting to get used to the Scottish media that you're not allowed to give accurate accounts.

“Honesty doesn't have a place in the Scottish media. So, sorry, I'm not allowed to talk about the opposition.

“Even if it is accurate or not, they don't want you to talk about it.”

Shiels attracted criticism at the weekend for speaking out about Stack during his side's Scottish Cup exit at the hands of Hibernian.

"We did DVD analysis and their goalkeeper was on the ball for seven minutes and 25 seconds. It is 100% true.

"He was taking 18 seconds and 22 seconds from when the ball went behind for a goal kick, not him holding the ball.

"When they scored it was alarming how it went up. I was frustrated, not angry.

"I don't blame Graham Stack, I blame the fourth official and the referee, Iain Brines.

"We kept asking the fourth official to talk to the referee.

"Seemingly he did and the referee said that he told the centre-half to tell the goalkeeper. And that was the way they acted on it."
