Kilmarnock are in talks to sign former Hearts midfielder Lee Johnson.

The midfielder left Bristol City at the end of the January transfer window and is available on a free transfer.

Johnson, 30, spent eight months at Tynecastle in 2006, making five appearances, three of which were as a substitute.

"He receives the ball very well,” Kilmarnock boss Kenny Shiels told STV. “He passes it well and his movement is good.

"He's a footballer and he would certainly improve our product."

Having played for Watford, Brighton and Yeovil Town before his first spell in Scotland, the player has spent the last six years in Bristol.

Johnson played 202 times for the Robins, while also spending time on loan at Derby County and Chesterfield.
