Former Scotland star John Collins has hailed Livingston’s Stefan Scougall as one of the best players he has worked with.
The Livi director of football has signed midfielder Scougall up on a new four year deal but said it will not be long before bigger clubs come calling for the 19-year-old.
Collins, who capped 58 times for Scotland during his career with Celtic, Monaco and Everton, told the official Livingston website: “One thing is for sure and that’s that the big clubs will come sniffing around at some point.
“I’ve worked with a lot of good young footballers and he’s as good, if not better, than anybody I’ve worked with.
“Getting him tied down on a new contract is good news for us and it’s good news for Stefan because he’s still developing.”
Scougall, who has been with the club since he was 17, added that it was his ambition to take the step up in his career once he had learned his trade at the West Lothian side.
He said: “I am ambitious and want to play at the highest level.
“I’ll hopefully help get Livingston back to the SPL but I hope at some point that a big move happens for me.”
