Tim Clancy has decided to leave Motherwell and could accept a deal to join SPL rivals Hibernian.
Well boss Stuart McCall was told by the player yesterday that he will not be signing on for a crack at the Champions League qualifiers at the Lanarkshire club.
The 27-year-old stopper, who signed on at Fir Park in August on a free transfer from Kilmarnock, has offers elsewhere and is believed to be high on Hibs’ boss Pat Fenlon’s wish-list.
Speaking to the Daily Express, McCall said: “Tim Clancy has told me he will be moving on. He has been offered a far better deal elsewhere.
“We gave him a platform but he did really well for us. He has enjoyed himself but if he can substantially increase his money then I don’t blame the lad at all.”
Fenlon is busy planning for next season after releasing first team players Graham Stack and Ian Murray and returning all of the club’s loanees to their parent clubs.
He is believed to be keen on another of Motherwell’s out of contract stars, midfielder Steve Jennings, and is making moves to sign James McPake permanently.
The Coventry City defender captained Hibs during his loan spell in Edinburgh and is believed to be available for £100,000. Fenlon wants to build his team around the 27-year-old after a disappointing season saw Hibs finish second bottom in the SPL table and lose the Scottish Cup final 5-1 to city rivals Hearts.
