Jean-Alain Boumsong believes his Panathinaikos team will have to be at their best to defeat Motherwell’s home advantage in their European tie.
Well will face the former Rangers defender in their Champions League qualifier at Fir Park on Tuesday and the stopper said the packed stadium will make for a tough contest for the Greek side.
Speaking to the Daily Record, the France international defender said that anything could happen in the tie and called for his team-mates to stick together and use their experience to overcome Stuart McCall’s men.
Boumsong said: “We know we are going to face a very difficult team, especially with Motherwell being at home.
“I know all about the Scottish spirit so we will need to be at our best. I played at Fir Park with Rangers and it was always a tough game and this will be no different.
“All the Motherwell fans will be right behind their team that night so we need to stay united in the match, even if there is a stage when we have some bad moments.
“We have to stick together and face it. Maybe the fact we have more European experience than Motherwell will help us but that doesn’t automatically guarantee anything in football.”
