Queen’s Park and Partick Thistle served up a thriller in the Ramsdens Cup second round at Hampden on Tuesday night, with the visitors winning by the odd goal in nine.
A storming effort from distance from 17-year-old Lawrence Shankland with 18 minutes on the clock, his third in two games, was cancelled out by the visitors before the break, with Aaron Sinclair and Christie Elliot putting the Jags in front at the interval.
Jamie Longworth equalised for the hosts nine minutes into the second half, with Chris Erskine restoring Thistle’s lead shortly after.
The Spiders though looked as though they would cause an upset when Anthony Quinn and Richard Little scored in quick succession to put them 4-3 up.
Their First Division opponents weren’t finished there, however, with Stuart Bannigan again levelling the tie in stoppage time, before his team-mate Erskine scored his second of the night to secure a 5-4 victory.
Highlights of the game will be available on the STV website until midnight on Friday, August 17. For more SFL action throughout the season, visit SFL TV.
