Ally McCoist has admitted he considered his future as Rangers boss after learning of an alleged plot to remove him from his position.
The manager confronted chief executive Charles Green after reportedly being told he would be replaced following the businessman’s purchase of the club’s assets.
It is uncertain whether McCoist will have a team to manage next season, with the Scottish Premier League and Scottish FA yet to decide whether the new company will be allowed to play as Rangers.
The former striker though says he is standing by the club for the time being, having been given assurances by Green.
“At first, when I was told there might have been a move to get me out my reaction was natural,” McCoist told the Daily Record. “I was furious.
“I did confront Charles Green about it on Wednesday. I was looking for answers and that meeting didn’t end well.
“I was then left with no other option but to contemplate my future believing that I wasn’t part of the plans.
“It was clear we had to sit down and talk about all of this and we had another meeting yesterday.
“I’ve reassessed my position and taken a step back from the brink. As things stand at the moment I am still manager.”
