SFA give Charles Green until Friday to meet membership bid requirements

The Scottish Football Association have requested that Charles Green submits the necessary paperwork to apply for the transfer of Rangers' membership to his new company by Friday.

The owner of Sevco 5088, which own the assets of the Ibrox club bought for £5.5m, has made a short, formal request to the governing body for their board to consider switching the membership from the old company to his newco.

Green though is yet to provide necessary information for the request to be considered, such as the details of the shareholdings of his company and its structure, a business plan and information to comply with the Scottish FA's rules on fit and proper persons.

The Scottish FA will not consider the request until any company owned by Green is playing in a recognised football league but is understood they are keen to have all the necessary paperwork in place.

The Scottish Premier League will not allow any new Rangers club to participate in its league, after six member clubs stated their intentions to vote against the transfer of the oldco's league share to the new company.

The board of the Scottish Football League met on Monday to consider any future request to join their league by Green, which would be put to a vote of its member clubs within the coming weeks.

Not to SFA cronies : We, the supporters of Scottish football, will not stand by while you break your own rules to accommodate a newly formed club.

Incidentally, under which rule are they planning on 'switching' membership? Are you sure he's not just applying for a new membership, like every other new club would have to?

Gee. I wonder why you have so much time and motivation to post negative comments on a Rangers related story when you clearly have more interest in law than you do Rangers. Maybe the name says it all.

Actually, I know exactly your point, which is built on a very shaky foundation. Perhaps you should read the statement you referred to more carefully.

"St Mirren bosses are on an emergency PLAN". It's just that, a plan. Any good businessman would be planning for contingencies and would be extremely incompetent if he/she didn't actuate one.

Of course, it is right and indeed healthy to have fears, otherwise we'd be have no sense of impending danger and would be arrogant about, or ignorant to, our surroundings. Evolution has hardwired this into our DNA. Only a wreckless fool has no fear and is usually the one who ends up dead...like a certain club I may add. I fear that I will end up poor and in the gutter one day because the banks are screwing us all over, so I save my money outside of the banking system to ensure that the banks won't get a hold of it. Will it come to pass? Who knows, but it certainly won't prevent me from making plans all the same. They call that prudence and wisdom.

I'm afraid you spout nothing but ifs, buts and maybes. You take a hypothesis and bandy it around like fact because it suits your agenda and allows your like to continue trying to bully your way into existence. Everyone associated with the football club formerly known as Rangers are nothing but poltergeists trying to ruin the living and refusing to submit to death. Someone needs to exorcise them.

Nice try, but you seriously fail and everyone can see through it, hence the no vote in the SPL. Abros los ojos.

"I" did not spout anything, I only posted a quote from a publication. You chose to see it as you did. When all is said and done, in the past I have been more than happy to help out with various fund raisers for other clubs, but I can assure you now never again. Good luck in the SPL as I think you are going to need it. Now make of that whatever you wish.

Too many people spending too much time dancing on Rangers' grave to see the dangers ahead. I suspect there will be more graves, but no-one will be dancing any more.

There's a difference between "threats and bullying" and warning based on sound business principle - heck any businessman will tell you that without Rangers in the SPL it's marketability is so vastly reduced that it's not commercially viable. Sky will not be interested in having no A grade matches from the SPL for 3 years, so will reduce their tabled bid by I would suspect close to 90% at best given the fact there's precious little revenue to be made from Celtic v St. Johnstone! That's not a match which will draw many viewers and will draw zero impulse/casual viewership - as a result the potential ad revenue is zero, companies will not pay to advertise during a match which will be watched by less than 1m people. Sky would still have to pay comparitive costs to what they would for an Old Firm match but without the reward for doing so - ultimately rendering the exercise pointless as a commercial venture, Sky aren't a charity, they're here to make money, which can ONLY happen when you have 4 Old Firm games to sell your advertising round.

The simple economics of the situation are that clubs will be left with peanuts for coverage as Sky & ESPN will not be making any money from advertising or sponsorship, thus will have to spend less to acquire the rights to broadcast in order to break even. Clubs the size of Celtic can survive that, they're guaranteed European money (inclusive of almost all the broadcast money), have already won the league (don't kid yourselves on, it's over by a clear 30 points) & still likely draw 50k+ a week in gate. The rest of the league don't have that, at best they can hope to shift a player to a championship club, but even then the revenue from that will be reduced as the championship clubs know the SPL clubs will NEED that money - so what would have been a £500k bid will now be £250k based on simple economics.

Rangers needed punished, no doubt about that whatsoever, but thinking what the smart people have been saying for months is bullying or threatening? Take a look boys & girls, see the big picture and understand that when I say 1 club per year on average will enter administration, it's not a threat, it's the very real effect. Motherwell admitted it, Kilmarnock also know it and anyone with half a brain cell & no tinted specs on will see it too.

This case concerns a completely new club attempting to cheat its way into, firstly, the SPL, which they were laughed out of, and currently, the SFL, which they are not eligible to enter.

Declan,Some clubs have already given out financial information on their status with and without Rangers in the bigger picture and its clear that some clubs would go into administration without Rangers included in the first division at least.Common sense will prevail.

No, some clubs have given out misleading information, which thankfully social media has proven to be a load of keech. It's funny how the projections put out by the Motherwell board, for example, didn't include the additional £965,000 they would have received were they not cheated out of 2nd place by the club which went bust. Why does their projections make no mention of income from the currently existing Sky TV deal, which still has two years to run? Taking those into account, and you'll find that Motherwell, and everyone else, will be considerably better off without a team which cheated its way through the past decade.

It's all academic anyway, how can a club which doesn't exist get admitted into any league?
