Southampton have agreed a fee with Rangers for the club’s former captain Steven Davis.
Nigel Adkins’ men are believed to have paid £750,000 for the 27-year-old Northern Irish international.
STV understands an agreement with Nigel Adkins’ side was reached earlier this week with Saints keen to avoid any potential obstacles regarding the player’s registration.
On Friday, four players who refused to move from Rangers oldco to Sevco Scotland were given provisional clearance to play for other teams.
Jamie Ness, Steven Whittaker, Kyle Lafferty and Steven Naismith all refused to move to the newco led by Charles Green under Tupe legislation.
Davis is one of four players the newly-promoted Premier League side have signed this summer.
Rangers chief executive Charles Green told the club’s official website: "I am delighted that we have agreed terms over the transfer of Steven Davis.
"Southampton have acted in good faith during the process. We wish them every success and they have signed a player who will undoubtedly make a great contribution to their club - just as he did at Ibrox."
