Greek midfielder Pantelis Kafes has begun training with Rangers as he attempts to secure a contract with the Ibrox club.

The former international took part in a full training session with the Rangers first team squad at their training base in Auchenhowie on Thursday.

Rangers manager Ally McCoist has been rebuilding his squad over the summer as he prepares for a promotion campaign in SFL Divison Three.

Having already signed Ian Black and Dean Shiels, McCoist had said that he was hopeful of adding more signings and had said there was a willingness to do a deal with Kafes.

The 34-year old Greek midfielder won 40 caps for his country and played over 300 top flight matches for olympiakos, PAOK and AEK Athens.

He is currently a free agent after leaving Athens at the end of last season.
