Rangers manager Ally McCoist revealed he felt ‘really nervous’ ahead of his team’s 4-0 League Cup first round win over East Fife at Ibrox.
It was the first time the Ibrox club had played at home this season following a dramatic summer which will see the club play in Division Three this term.
Having signed three players on Tuesday, McCoist watched his team deliver against the Second Division side infront of a crowd of 38,160.
Goals from Lee McCulloch (2), Dean Shiels and Lee Wallace ensured McCoist’s men comfortably made it through to the next round.
But before the game, the 49-year-old said he was hit with strong pre-match nerves.
He said: "It was strange before the game.
"I was really nervous myself because I wanted to win the game but I wanted to give the fans something they would be pleased seeing.
"I actually think it's a good thing. I don't think I've ever been involved in a game of football where I've not had nerves.
"But this was a big, big game for the club in terms of the supporters and putting on a performance.
"The eyes of the country have been on us and will continue to be on us this season. We don't want to let anyone down."
