Rangers boss Walter Smith confirmed Allan McGregor will be available for selection in Sunday’s Old Firm clash with Celtic at Ibrox.
The Rangers keeper was attacked in Glasgow on Saturday after a night out which left him needing hospital treatment.
McGregor was left with bruising around one of his eyes and it was thought he would be left out of the Rangers side to face rivals Celtic.
However, Smith confirmed the 29-year-old will be considered for the squad.
“He is fit and available,” said Smith, who is on the verge of equalling Jock Steins Old Firm record should Rangers win on Sunday.
When asked if McGregor was up to the task, Smith said: “Yes, he is in the right frame of mind.”
McGregor was dropped from Craig Levein’s Scotland squad as a result of the injury, which Levein believed would render him unfit for the friendly against Czech Republic next week.
Rangers are currently sitting ten points clear of their Glasgow rivals at the top of the SPL with a game in hand. Having their first choice goalkeeper would be a massive boost to the Ibrox side who will be hoping to extend that lead.
