Rangers will play Maribor of Slovenia in the Europa League qualifiers.

The Ibrox side previously faced the Slovenians in the 2001/02 Champions League qualifiers, defeating them 6-1 on aggregate.

A Tore Andre Flo double and a strike from Christian Nerlinger gave the Gers a 3-0 win away from home, before Flo and a brace from Claudio Cannigia cancelled out Vanja Starcevic's goal at Ibrox.

In spite of this, Rangers will be wary of the fact that their opponents comfortably disposed of Hibernian 6-2 on aggregate in last year's Europa League qualifiers.

Maribor finished their season eight points clear of nearest challengers Domzale at the top of the Slovenian league. They are coached by former Slovak international Darko Milanic, who featured as a player against Spain and Yugoslavia in the 2000 European Championships.

Captain Tavares is the dangerman, and the Brazilian finished top scorer in the Slovenian league last season with 16 goals. Croat winger Dejan Mezga provides danger from wide, and is capable of scoring important goals.

Rangers will travel to Slovenia for the away leg on August 18, before hosting the reverse tie on August 25.
