Mervan Celik has agreed a deal to sign for Rangers, STV has learned.
The player, who is out of contract after leaving GAIS in December, is set to sign a three-and-a-half year deal to move to Ibrox.
STV understands the 21-year-old has not yet put pen to paper on his deal, but has agreed in principle to move to the Scottish Premier League.
He will travel to Glasgow on Friday, where it is expected he will conclude his move.
"We have agreed a deal in principle with Rangers and we have agreed all conditions," Celik's agent, Hasan Cetinkaya. "It is a three-and-a-half year contract.
"We have had a lot of offers for Mervan, 12-13 concrete offers from clubs from big leagues.
"But when Mervan and I went to Glasgow one month ago, we got a very good impression from Rangers and Ally McCoist. McCoist was the key reason to this transfer."
An attacking midfielder who can play on either wing, Celik also had offers from clubs in Germany and England. The player made a visit to Glasgow last month with his agent to look around the club.
"The player is a box-to-box player," his agent continued. "He is very good offensively and very fast. Let's just say Rangers are getting a very talented player.
"Can he break into the first team? Absolutely. That's why he is coming to Rangers."
Celik’s former club GAIS would be due training compensation for the player, a figure STV understands would be in the region of £240,000.
Celik scored 14 goals in 27 appearances for GAIS last campaign, his fourth full season with the club. In total, he played 68 times, finding the net 18 times.
