Rangers manager Ally McCoist has said that he would consider allowing Alejandro Bedoya or Matt McKay go out on loan this month.
Neither player has managed to earn a regular first team place since signing for Rangers last summer. With Mervan Celik completing his move to Ibrox on Friday, competition for a place in McCoist’s side has increased.
Asked if new arrivals would mean that McKay or Bedoya may be allowed to leave, the Rangers manager said it was something he would consider.
“It’s a possibility,” McCoist said. “I wouldn’t rule it out
“I would have to look at numbers and take one or two things into account but it would be a possibility.”
John Fleck was permitted to move to Blackpool on loan in order to get more game time and McCoist said that letting his younger players develop elsewhere could benefit all concerned.
“To explain the Fleck one, to be fair to him, we’ve let other lads go out on loan with Kyle Hutton, Kai Naismith and Darren Cole,” McCoist added.
“I’m actually quite happy, I think generally think it’s a good idea to let the lads go out and get experience.
“I’ve got to be really fair to John because he’s been needing games for a long, long time. He came in against Motherwell and did fine, and he did fine against Arbroath but we need to get him playing on a regular basis.
“When Steve Davis, our captain, came back John slipped back to the bench.
“I’m trying to be as fair as I can but the main thing is to look after the best interests of the football club.
“In the best interests of the club and John, I think he can go and get a few games. He’ll benefit from it and I think we’ll get a better player back.”
