Sone Aluko believes Rangers and Celtic are 'close' on ability

Sone Aluko has said that he does not believe there to be a big gulf in quality between his side and Champions, Celtic.

The Nigerian winger has been part of three of the four matches between the Glasgow rivals, and feels that the matches show how close both sides are in ability.

He said: "I think it showed in the games over the course of the season, even the aggregate scores have been close.

"I think on our best day and on their best day we are both very good sides. It shows in the real competitive games."

Aluko also conceded that Celtic were deserving winners of the SPL title, suggesting their post-Christmas form was key to their victory.

"I'm not going to deny them that. They've been in good form since December.

"Even when they haven't played so well they've ground out results and that's the sign of a good team, so I think they do deserve to win the league this year."
