St Johnstone captain Jody Morris has joined Championship club Bristol City on a free transfer.
The 33-year-old midfielder spent four-and-a-half years in Perth, making 100 appearances.
He joins up again with the former Saints manager who brought him to McDiarmid Park, Derek McInnes, at the Robins.
Speaking to the official Bristol City website, Morris said he jumped at the chance to move south again with his family.
The former Chelsea academy player said: “It’s the right switch for my career as well as an opportunity to bring my family back south.
“When the gaffer signed my in 2008 it was a tough time in my career but St Johnstone is where I fell in love with football again. I can’t speak highly enough of everyone at St Johnstone – the staff, my team-mates and the fans.
“I leave with a heavy heart and I’m sad to go, given my affiliation with the fans there, but this opportunity is one that I had to grab with both hands.”
McInnes said he was delighted to bring the bustling midfielder to Ashton Gate and said his dedication on and off the field made him move to bring him to Bristol.
McInnes added: “Jody has excellent experience as well as superb fitness levels and I know he is capable of performing well in the Championship on a regular basis.”
