Steve Lomas has had a busy summer so far, bringing no less than five new faces to McDiarmid Park.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the SPL and finances as a result of Rangers going into liquidation, Lomas has been building a team to compete at home and in Europes this term.
Lomas is happy with his dealings so far and wishes he could have the security to sign more.
He said: “Obviously I'd like a few more, like most managers do. But obviously with the present climate and everyone waiting to see what's happening.
“I think there's a lot of scaremongering out there with regards to the TV money. But I can understand the chairmen’s concerns, especially at a club like ourselves. Until we really know what our budget is it is very difficult for all concerned.
“The club itself has been financially run well. We are certainly not going to put the club in jeopardy. But it is frustrating for me, from a manager's point of view.”
Checking in at the Perth side this summer are former Ross County defender Gary Miller and ex-Falkirk full back Tam Scobbie, plus strikers Gregory Tade from Inverness and Nigel Hasselbaink from St Mirren. Ex-Caley goalkeeper Jonny Tuffey has also signed.
With a Europa League qualification tie against Turkish side Eskisehirspor looming, Lomas wants them all bedded in before the European campaign begins.
He added: “We've got a European game in two and a half weeks, so you would like the majority of your squad here and doing training.
“We've got five new guys here and they've all settled in well. We knew what type of guys they were before we got them.”
