St Johnstone and Dundee United drew 0-0 at McDiarmid Park as the home side wait for their first SPL win of the season.
Dundee United boss Peter Houston admitted this was not a classic Tayside derby while Saints boss Steve Lomas was pleased with his team’s display.
Referee Willie Collum waved away the home side’s penalty claim when striker Gregory Tade and United defender Sean Dillon clashed in the box.
Patrick Cregg played the ball into the box and the former Inverness CT striker went down under the challenge.
Saints substitute Nigel Hasselbaink was convinced it should have been a spot-kick, briefly stepping on the pitch to appeal to the official.
