Derek Riordan hoping to fire St Johnstone into Europe

Derek Riordan has targeted European football on his return to Scottish football with St Johnstone.

The former Scotland international moved to China last summer with Shaanxi Chanba, but returned to his homeland at the end of last year.

He hopes that the experience has improved his game: "It was difficult but it's an experience that you learn from. I tried it and things didn't work out over there so I'm back here and hoping to score goals again."

Now the 29-year-old is aiming to help fire St Johnstone into the Europa League, starting with one of his former clubs, Celtic, this weekend.

He continued: "The gaffer has given me a chance to come in and impress. If I get the chance I've got to go out there and score as many goals as I can and hopefully push St Johnstone towards that European spot."
