Sean Winter's brace ensured Stranraer ended the year at the summit of Division Three following their 4-2 victory over Annan Athletic.

A win for either side would have moved them into first place and the hosts had to come from behind twice.

Ian Harty got the opening goal from the penalty spot in the 36th minute when Frank McKeown was adjudged to have fouled John MacBeth.

Stranraer hit back before half-time when Stuart McColm's cross was headed home by Winter but the visitors nudged ahead shortly after the break through Sean O'Connor's driven effort.

Again the home side responded immediately with Stephen Stirling scoring a penalty he had won after being hacked down by Steven Sloan.

Winter put Stranraer ahead with a fine effort from 18 yards in the 69th minute and Craig Malcolm's placed finish wrapped it up two minutes from time.
