Ian Black has dismissed the spectators who booed him during his international appearance, branding them "so-called home fans" who could not ruin the "proudest moment of my career".
The former Hearts midfielder was jeered when he came on in the 87th minute as a substitute against Australia.
The match at Easter Road saw Scotland trounce their antipodean rivals 3-1 at Easter Road.
Rangers player Black was a surprise call-up after manager Craig Levein left out his Ibrox team-mate Lee Wallace, saying it was difficult to pick players from the Irn-Bru Third Division.
Speaking during post-match interviews, Black showed no signs that his confidence had been dented by the hostile reaction.
He said: "I'm absolutely delighted, it's probably the biggest and proudest moment of my career so far. It certainly wasn't expected. I was sitting with my feet up on Sunday afternoon with the family and got the phone call. From then on I've basically been running about on cloud nine, buzzing."
However, Black still fired a jibe at the adversarial crowd, calling them "so-called home fans".
He said: "It's disappointing that it's your so-called home fans but you put it down to maybe where we are playing tonight. It is a surprise but I've had that a lot throughout my career so I'm used to it and just get on with it.
"It doesn't faze me, I think if you let that faze you it's going to affect you in the long run so you have got to be big enough to get on with it. I'm big enough to get on with it and I've proved a few people wrong there by getting the opportunity."
The 27-year-old's inclusion in the squad was controversial given his combative approach over the years and he was unsure whether it was his Hearts connection, Rangers status or general reputation that saw him targeted.
He added: "It could have been a bit of everything, but I'm big enough to get on with that and nothing was going to get in the way of me coming on tonight and enjoying every minute of it."
Black hopes to make further appearances in Levein's team despite the likes of Scott Brown and Darren Fletcher being tipped to come back in.
"Hopefully, I've been given the opportunity and I'm just delighted to get the appearance," he said. "I go back to club level and hopefully kick on. Hopefully my form there can catch his eye, like I have done in the past."
