Scott Brown is absent from Craig Levein's Scotland selection for the World Cup qualifying double header with Serbia and Macedonia through injury.

The Celtic midfielder helped his side to the Champions League group stage on Wednesday night but isn't the pool for the Hampden games, having required an injection to face Helsingborg.

Manager Levein confirmed the former Hibernian player is seeing a specialist over a persistent hip injury and won't be fit to feature.

His club team-mate, Kris Commons, has failed to win a call-up, with the national boss saying other players remained in front of him in the queue despite his good form.
