Scotland manager Craig Levein has confirmed his starting line-up for Wednesday night's friendly with Slovenia.

As previously announced, Celtic's Charlie Mulgrew will win his first cap, lining up at left back.

Stand-in captain Gary Caldwell will partner Christophe Berra in central defence. Norwich City's Russell Martin will make his first start at right back, with Allan McGregor in goal.

In midfield, Charlie Adam, James Morrison and James McArthur make up the central three. James Forrest is expected to start on the right flank, with Jamie Mackie on the left.

Up front, Craig Mackail-Smith is given the nod, with regular starter Kenny Miller named on the bench.

"The manager named the team this morning," Scotland coach Kenny Black said. "We've got Charlie Mulgrew coming in.

"Gary Caldwell will be captain. He's getting close to his 50th cap so I'm sure Gary will be very, very proud to be captain."

On Mulgrew and Miller, Black added: "Charlie's form has been really good at Celtic over a number of weeks now.

"With Phil Bardsley being one of the ones who has had to drop out through injury, it's given Charlie an opportunity to come in and stake a claim.

"Kenny will be on the bench but the manager has named a team that will be very, very competitive from the first whistle.

"There will be an opportunity for lads to maybe get part of the game.

"Kenny is desperate to play but you saw the game on Sunday, the cup final, and we just felt it would be better having Kenny as back-up. Craig Mackail-Smith will play up front."
