Hearts have released three more players as their summer clear-out continues.

The Scottish Cup winners will not be extending Hampden hero Stephen Elliott’s contract after two years at the club. The Republic of Ireland cap scored 11 goals in his time in Gorgie.

Also departing Tynecastle are striker Gary Glen and winger Jordan Morton. Glen failed to fulfil his promise having made his first team bow aged just 16 against Dundee United in 2007. Morton spent the first half of the season with Cowdenbeath, netting six times for the side that would go on to lift the Second Division championship.

Speaking to the official Hearts website, former Sunderland man Elliott said: “I have had a great couple of years here. I’m leaving with a Scottish Cup winner’s medal so I would have to say my time here has been a success.”

Glen, who was not involved in Hampden demolition of Hibs, said it was still great to go out on such a high for the club.

He said: “I’d like to thank the fans for their support during my time at the club.”

The trio join Ian Black, David Obua and Adrian Mrowiec in leaving Hearts this summer.
