St Mirren midfielder Aaron Mooy is set to quit the Paisley club to move to the Australian A-league.
The 21-year-old is still under contract at Greenhill Road but is negotiating a release with St Mirren to allow him to complete a move home, with West Sydney FC his likely destination.
St Mirren boss Danny Lennon has given his consent to the move after the player only made sporadic appearances last season.
“Danny spoke to Aaron at the end of the season and said he would not stand in his way if another club came in for him,” Saints’ general manager Brian Caldwell told the Paisley Daily Express.
“West Sydney have expressed an interest and we’ve been in touch with Aaron’s agent and are now working towards a conclusion.
“Hopefully, everything should be finalised some time next week.”
Mooy had joined the SPL side after a spell at Bolton Wanderers. He made 18 appearances in his first season but suffered injury problems in the first half of last term.
He returned to first-team duty in December and scored a memorable goal in a 2-1 win over Rangers on Christmas Eve, but did not win a regular starting spot.
