Premier League new boys Ross County have swooped for their second capture of the summer, as striker Gary Glen joined the Staggies.

Former Hearts player Glen, 22, departed Tynecastle after the Edinburgh side’s Scottish Cup winning campaign.

He signs up on a one year deal at Victoria Park after making 54 appearances for Hearts.

County manager Derek Adams, who captured veteran defender Ross Tokely from Inveness last week, said he had brought in a player who is highly regarded by his former coaches.

Adams said: “It is always tough for a young player to break in to the first team having come through the youth set-up at big clubs and I can understand his hunger to play competitive football.

“I am delighted he has seen Ross County as the right team and environment for him to make that step up in. We have a great track record of nurturing and developing young players in the first team here at Victoria Park and I think Gary's signing fits in well with that ethos."

Glen made his Hearts debut aged just 16, but struggled to make an impact on a regular basis. He scored his first senior goal against St Mirren in 2008 but netted just four more for the club, the last of which came against Dunfermline at East End Park in April.
