St Johnstone manager Steve Lomas says he’s willing striker Gregory Tade to win his fitness fight, but doesn’t want to risk the striker suffering a longer spell on the sidelines.
The French forward is currently recovering from a hamstring strain picked up in training before the first leg of the Europa League qualifying tie against Eskisehirspor.
Lomas hasn’t ruled the former Inverness Caledonian Thistle man out of the second leg in Perth on Thursday but is wary of rushing the 25-year-old back too quickly.
He told national newspapers: “We would love Greg to be fit to face the Turks. But the last thing we want is him tearing his hamstring.”
Sean Higgins played as the lone striker in the club’s 2-0 defeat in Turkey while Lomas could also call on 19-year-old Steven May who returned to McDiarmid Park after a successful loan spell with Alloa.
Lomas added: “We’re very light upfront and we would miss him [Tade] if he was out. It is a tough call.”
