Manuel Pascali insists he is fit and ready to fly into tackles again after overcoming a long-term injury.

The Kilmarnock captain is back in training and his featured in pre-season, having recovered from a broken leg sustained in February.

Killie kick off the new SPL season against Dundee on August 4 and the Italian says that, although he has some apprehensions, he is certain he will return to his previous form quickly.

“I want to play against Dundee,” he told the Daily Record. “The leg is not hurting me any more, so I think I will be ready for it.

“I’m getting there but it’s not easy after five months out. I have to be patient but hopefully when the league starts I will be ready.

“Sometimes it has been a little bit scary going on the park after an injury like that because I’m a guy who is not afraid to tackle.

“It is in your mind, but on August 4 you will see me going in for tackles. You will see my first yellow card in that game and then we will definitely know I’m back.”
