Celtic are lining up a move for St Etienne striker Ilan Araujo Dall'Igna in the January transfer window. The £4million rated Brazilian forward, better known as Ilan, will be available on a Bosman transfer and could provide a much needed boost to the Celtic frontline.
Thanks to his dual nationality status (he also has an Italian passport), there would be no work permit problem for Celtic to deal with.
The 29-year-old played for Brazilian sides Parana, Sao Paulo and Atletico Paranaense before moving to France where he had a successful spell at Sochaux before joining St Etienne.
The veteran player has played just 95 league matches in his three and half seasons, but has bagged 25 goals in that time.
He is cited for his overall contribution to the team, and he was a key player as St Etienne progressed to the last 16 of the 2008/09 Uefa Cup, scoring five goals in the tournament. He has been capped five times for his country.
Manager Tony Mowbray is coming in for increasing criticism from some supporters as his side have misfired their way to just two wins in their last ten matches.
Summer signing Marc Antoine Fortune has been a damp squib on the pitch and the new manager is scouting around for players to strengthen his squad.
Honduran international Osman Chavez has been at Lennoxtown this week for an assessment. The Platense centre-half has also attracted interest from Spurs and Blackburn, and could join on loan ahead of a permanent deal.
