Celtic boss Tony Mowbray has not ruled out the possibility of Robbie Keane remaining at Parkhead after the summer. The Republic of Ireland international bagged a brace in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Falkirk which took his Celtic tally to five.
The loan capture of Keane from Tottenham was the coup of the transfer window for the Hoops who brought in eight players in total.
Keane is due to return to White Hart Lane at the end of the season and Mowbray is undecided on whether to make a permanent move for the striker.
The manager insists he has not considered what will happen come the end of the season but does not believe it is certain the striker will leave the Bhoys.
“Getting him to extend his stay isn't something that has crossed my mind," said Mowbray. "But we'll wait and see. That's not to say no.
"I don't know what Robbie's thoughts are on his football career. He's a young guy still, he's contracted to Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League. I don't know what he thinks about his future.
"In the short term, he's here until the end of the season and hopefully he's got a few more days when he makes the difference."
Celtic are currently sitting 10 points behind SPL leaders Rangers, who have a game in hand.
