Former Celtic star Lubo Moravcik has urged Tony Mowbray to build his team around Irishman Robbie Keane. The Slovakian insists the on-loan striker is the key to Celtic’s success.
Keane is on-loan at his boyhood heroes until the end of the season, along with striker Diomansy Kamara, but Moravcik believes the forward is the future for Celtic and that the current team “is not good enough”.
"Maybe this is the future for Celtic - build the team around Robbie Keane as a captain and maybe as the main man for Celtic, because he has a couple of years ahead of him,” said the midfielder who netted 29 times for the Hoops.
He added: "To finish at Celtic would be perfect for him, the club and the fans.
"He's got a winning mentality, this is good for Celtic. They have to bring players who are good with him up front.
"It's up to the manager to build a new team because this team is not good enough if they don't have results."
Moravcik, who won the domestic treble with Celtic in 2001, praised Keane for his international performances despite Ireland losing out on a World Cup place thanks to France and Thierry Henry.
"Robbie played two very good games against France for Ireland, I watched both games," said the 44-year-old. "He's still a very good player. He had a hard situation at Tottenham because [Jermain] Defoe and [Roman] Pavlyuchenko took over his place."
