Hearts have disciplined the three players who were involved in the brawl at New Douglas Park on Sunday. Suso Santana, Ian Black and Eggert Jonsson were all called into referee David Somers’ room following an incident in the tunnel following the 2-1 defeat to Hamilton.
Santana and Black were both red-carded for their part in the brawl, while Jonsson was shown a yellow card for dissent. Hamilton substitute Leon Knight was shown a red card for his part in the trouble, as was Hearts masseur Alan Robson.
The Edinburgh club announced that, following an internal review, all three players would be disciplined. Hearts also confirmed that they would not be appealing Santana’s red card.
Hearts manager Csaba Laszlo made it clear that although he felt there were mitigating circumstances he had no option but that standards of behaviour had to be met.
"While there were clearly a series of circumstances that led to events at the end of the game, it is important that players retain their discipline at all times,” he said.
"The players concerned have been disciplined now and we will now concentrate on this weekend's game against Dundee United at Tynecastle."
Hearts owner Vladimir Romanov has claimed that referees have targeted his club for the last two seasons and that there was a conspiracy to aid the Old Firm.
"A couple of seasons ago in a game against Dundee United, Hearts were given three red cards, had two penalties awarded against us and a free-kick placed inside our box. At this point, I stopped even talking about football and the mafia,” he said.
"It was then I realised that there is no football in Scotland - and there cannot be any.
"Only degraded people could humiliate their country like this and deceive the fans just for the sake of unfair titles for the Old Firm.
"Under such circumstances the main task for Hearts now is to help our young players grow up, and not pay any attention to the surrounding showbusiness."
